There is nothing like a Dame…

So, the Supreme Court has decreed with the force of the highest court in the land that a man is a biological male human and a women a biological female human. This may be based in the process of law and born of long legal learning and deliberations?, or maybe a late-night chance viewing of South Pacific?, or recognition that the Dame in pantomime is always a man?
Either way it looks like common sense has finally rolled the dice the right way and the biological facts of life has prevailed and humans with wisdom, from the Latin homo sapiens, of both sexes have (I hope finally) spoken.
The argument is closed?
Likely not; for this said, it is a fact that Intersex exists – hermaphroditism is estimated to evidence in between 1.7% and 0.018% of the population - statistics that are argued over and quoted according to the kaleidoscope the viewer chooses to look through. The true incidence of this biological condition, who knows? But I would lend to the lower end of the scale and the fact of this is simple – you are as you are born – a mammal cannot change its biological sex be that male, female or indeterminate.
The incidence of Intersex is simply not one that warrants or justifies the impacts on private life, civic process and commercial business activities that have been imposed over the last decade. Our political class has been paralysed by the arguments, their statements and actions have become increasingly nonsensical and disproportionate, a whole “industry” of litigation and consultancy has developed and its tenacles spread like an inorganic reynoutria japonica as a pest and invasive species through the public sector and corporate enterprise where it discovered ideal breeding grounds.
By any rational measure it is time to call halt and reset.
Persons who are genuinely Intersex deserve and should receive recognition and as necessary support and protection be that legal, social or medical in nature from the general population.
Those who simply wish to claim a right to specify the gender they wish to project should be free to do as they wish without facing animosity, bias, bigotry, chauvinism, discrimination, enmity, injustice, intolerance, preconception or any other term you may wish to list. But, those in this group and even more so the “social warriors” who so loudly claim their right to pursue and prosecute their case need to accept that they have no right to impose their views, positions and activities on, or to the detriment of, the majority.
The lines between the biological sexes in terms of sport, single sex spaces, medical privacy and more must in all events take precedence and be respected – Democracy is the expression of the will of the masses, be those who make up the mass be vocal or silent. It is not delivered from the impositions of the minorities no matter how vocal they be. It must be protected and nurtured at all times and opportunity. It cannot be left to the dictate of politicians labouring under their own perceptions and the influences of single interest and pressure groups. If that position carries the day then John Adams warned long ago of its likely fate …
“Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.”
Remember too that minority rights in states where democracy is absent face a fate far worse that what is purported to exist within one with its foundations laid securely within its groundworks
